Blueberry brain smoothie
Updated: Oct 8, 2018
Here we go! Welcome to the first official MNML post. Today I'm sharing one of my top 5 favorite smoothie recipes. Not only does this taste like blueberry ice cream but it also keeps me full and focused throughout the morning.
I like to load up my mini blender the night before with the frozen ingredients and set out everything else I'll need for the smoothie (with the exception of the refrigerated stuff of course) so that whipping this baby up before work is smpl as can be.
This smoothie is loaded with healthy fats from MCT oil and natural almond butter making it super filling to get you through your busy mornings. I also found there was no need for my daily dose of caffeine once I started slurping this down on my way to work. MCTs (medium chain triglycerides) are more easily absorbed by your body because they don't need to be broken down like longer chain fats do. Because of this, MCTs travel straight to the liver and can be used as an immediate source of energy. Check the link in the ingredients to see my favorite brand and check back here in a few weeks for more information about my love of healthy fats!
1/2 frozen banana
1/2 C. frozen organic blueberries
1 TBSP MCT oil (here's my fave)
1-2 TBSP natural almond butter
8-12 oz. unsweetened vanilla almond milk or coconut milk
1 scoop of your favorite vanilla protein powder (here's my fave)
Blend, throw into your favorite cup, and go tackle your Monday.
Oh and before I go, quick question: have you ever tried to peel a frozen banana? One more question, did your finger tips almost freeze off? I used to spend 10 minutes a smoothie trying just to peal my frozen bananas until I learned one simple tip that saved my fingers and my sanity. I'll share on Friday ;)
That's all for now, stay smpl.
